4.3 Prepositional Pronouns

After the prepositions de, en, con and sopre, a prepositional pronoun is required.

There is no such thing as "conmigo" and "contigo" in Neolatin. This occurred in Ibero-Romance languages (Spanish and Portuguese) because they originally had "mecum" and "tecum", which came from a combination of object pronouns with Latin "cum". The words evolved and they later obtained Romance "con" at the front of the words, resulting in the modern redundant forms of "conmigo" and "contigo". In addition, "consigo" is a common error in Spanish.
