“Alcuno” in a Negative Sense

The indefinite adjective of "alcuno", which is the counterpart of "necuno", can have a negative sense in some Romance languages.

In Spanish, when "alguno" goes after the noun, it takes on a negative meaning.

No hay justificación alguna. / No hay ninguna justificación.There is no justification.

That being said, in Spanish this use is more formal and less common compared to using "ninguna" before the noun.

In Italian, the cognate "alcuno" can have both a positive meaning (equivalent to "qualche" in the sense of "some" when used in a positive sense) and a negative meaning (like the Italian word "nessuno" in negative sentences).

Non c'è alcun problema. / Non c'è nessun problema. / Non c'è problema. There is no problem.

In Italian, "alcun" could even go after the noun like in Spanish. However, this is hardly done anymore compared to using "alcun" or "nessun" before the noun.

In French, the cognate "aucun" is always negative, be it as an indefinite adjective (ex: Je n'en ai aucune idée.) or indefinite pronoun (ex: Aucun de mes amis). In fact, in informal speech, the indefinite adjective "ne", meaning "not", is dropped (ex: J'en ai aucune idée.)

In regards to Neolatin, "necuno" is the most unambiguous and preferred adjective. However, in line with the diversity of Romance languages, some may want to use "alcuno" in a negative sense at times.
